Dewey Chester Harman 1921-2009

We learned yesterday that Helen's Father-in-law from her first marriage has died in California. Helen always referred to him affectionately as "Dad". Dewey was a man of strong opinion but a soft heart; a man who battled alcohol for years but had been sober for years. He leaves behind his wife Donna, and family and friends that will miss him.

As a Deer That Yearns...

The deer are back, well not like they ever go away for an extended period of time, but this was the view out of the side door of our bedroom a couple of days ago:

The Renting of Lee Blvd

Well - after MANY months, two price reductions, and SEVERAL people saying they wanted the house, we finally have a Contract on the place! The renter is a woman who just graduated from medical school and is interning at Children's Mercy Hospital; and her fiance who is a physical trainer. THE LEASE RUNS UNTIL THE END OF MAY 2011! Hopefully when they are finished with the place the market might be better to sell it.

Also, as a further sign of good luck on this, Uncle Bob was passing by the place on Saturday, saw cars and people in the yard and dropped in to see what was going on. He first met the fiance, who was there with his mother, and it turns out that he is the son of Bob's dentist! He also met the doctor and gave them all a tour and answered questions - AND was favorably impressed with them, so another reality check!

Anyway, this all looks very positive and they are scheduled to move in on Nov 25Th.

And last but not least many thanks to Bob for his babysitting of the place in our absence, it's good to have someone spot-checking the place.
