Christmas Concerts

Well the heavy-duty choral work is over for the year for me.  Last Wednesday the church choir had its evening of "Lessons and Carols", an event not well attended but the choir and the string orchestra did a credible job.

Last Saturday and Sunday the Central Oregon Mastersingers gave concerts in Bend and Sunriver along with the Sunriver Bell Choir.  The bell choir is very good and has a large following in Sunriver as the members of the group come from several different churches in the Sunriver area.  Both concerts where sold out.

We did well despite what appeared to be an inept sound system person at the Great Hall in Sunriver.

It's hard to explain the joy that singing with this group gives me.  For those that care about such things I have been moved from the Tenor section to the Bass section - the director says it's a promotion (humor alert) and I've always wanted to sing Bass since I first heard the Bass Oratorio "Thus Saith The Lord" from Handel's Messiah.  It's a new experience and so far I really enjoy it.

On a slightly different topic, I've posted a recording of one of the numbers that we (Mastersingers) performed at our benefit concert for Habitat for Humanity in the fall - the link is HERE.

Helen Enriches Yakima

Yakima Washington is now culturally richer thanks to the Holiday Inn's decision to contract with Helen for artwork for display in the remodeled lobby of the hotel.  Thanks goes to our friend Diane who was instrumental in linking Helen up with the manager of the hotel, Diane provided design services for the remodel.  The richness of color in the carpeting and fabrics that Diane used is reflected in Helen's design.

Congratulations Ms. Helen the work looks great, even better when you see the quilting up close - we are proud of you!
