As some of you may be aware, I am not yet ready to have a rider get on the motorcycle with me. Helen, on the other hand, is not sure if she ever wants to get on the back of a motorcycle with anyone again. So our friend Robert has suggested that we get one of those three-wheel motorcycles and then Helen and I would feel better about riding together.
But a better option has arisen - behold the QUAD!
This guy is a BMW 1130cc motorcycle on a 4-wheel chassis with independent suspension for all wheels - top speed 115 mph, perfect for summer drives in the mountain! The base price is only $49,000!
OK, lest anyone think I have lost my mind, I have NOT purchased this monster - but it does get my testosterone (what's left of it) flowing!!!!!!
The "Great Ride"
One of the great things about this town is the great people we are meeting. Diane and Robert introduced us to a couple named Kathy and Mike. Kathy is a quilter and Mike is a builder. And to make things sweeter both Kathy and Mike are bikers.
So we where invited to ride our bikes to Kathy and Mike's house in the city of John Day, which is about 150 miles from bend. Mike went ahead so Kathy, Diane and Robert, and Mr. Bill got on their bikes (with Helen in the chase car with essentials: wine, wine, food and clean clothes) and we headed out on Saturday to John Day.
Mike and Kathy's place is John Day sits on the side of the mountain with a breathtaking view. Pictures follow - to get a better look double-click on any photo and you get a larger photo and you can move between photos at your leisure!
